Your box of The Honest Kitchen pet food is not only healthy; it’s also very versatile. While it can be served with water, it can also be served with cooked food . And on top of that, it can be used to prepare healthy, delicious treats for your furry friends.
Here are what you can make at home. Feel free to use any flavour of dehydrated food, whether it’s Zeal, Thrive or Embark, or even Preference. Before you begin, make sure your dog is not allergic to any of the ingredients used.
Pork and Cheddar Cheese Cookies
Ingredients
1 cups dehydrated food
250g minced pork
100g grated cheddar cheese
1 egg
1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Pre-heat your oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
- Mix all five ingredients in a big bowl until well combined. Mixture should be slightly sticky and of a doughy consistency.
- Grease your cookie cutters with olive oil.
- Roll out your mixture on a floured surface till it’s about one inch thick, then get to work with the cookie cutters.
- Grease a baking tray with olive oil or line with baking paper.
- Place cookies onto tray and into the oven for about 20-30 minutes.
- Let cool before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Chicken and Sweet Potato Pound Cake
Ingredients
1 cups dehydrated food (Force)
250g minced chicken
200g sweet potatoes, mashed
1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Pre-heat your oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
- Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined.
- Grease a cake tin with olive oil or line with baking paper, then transfer the mixture into the tray. Spread it evenly.
- Bake for about 30-40 minutes.
- Let cool before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
Parsley and Pumpkin Cookies
Ingredients
2 cups of dehydrated food (Preference)
1 cup finely chopped parsley
1 cup mashed pumpkin
1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Pre-heat your oven 150 degrees Celsius.
- Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl until it forms thick dough. If it doesn’t add small amounts of water until it forms a ball.
- Grease your cookie cutters with olive oil.
- Roll out the dough onto a floured surface and get to work with the cookie cutters. The thinner its rolled, the crispier it will turn out.
- Grease a baking tray with olive oil or baking paper, then lay your treats on top and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
- Let cool before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
